The Healthy Heartlands Week of Action launched April 14  -- People across the heartland are disrupting the cradle to prison pipeline!

MI Power to Thrive Day of Action:
In Michigan Tuesday, lead by Gamaliel of Michigan, seven community organizing and public health entities dissected the pieces of the pipe -- starting with early childhood then hearing spoken word "Blame the Boy" and concluding with legislative visits at the Capitol in Lansing -- they won a commitment to a bi-partisan review of practices for reentry regulation!

Violence as a Health Issue:

In Ohio late last week, powerful movies and nationally renowned speakers set the stage for Ohio Organizing Collaborative's "Reframing Safety and Rethinking Policing" with guests like University of Cincinnati Police, the late Jordan Davis' mother, Cincinnati Police Chief, Cincinnati Health Commissioner and other powerful partners.

Racial Justice Day at the Capitol:
At Minnesota's Capitol, the mouths of marchers were silenced in solidarity with those who mass incarceration and deportation have silenced -- as ISAIAH Leaders moved throughout the Senate Offices and halls of the State Office Building.  They stood shoulder to shoulder to unmask the oppressive lies that drive MN to terrible disparity rates during a press conference that led into key legislative meetings.

Ban the Box - Hot off the Press:
Louisiana's Micah Project three-year efforts are paying off, as a Ban the Box employment bill passed the LA House Committee last Wednesday with a 9-1 vote!!!
