PICO California helps lead Congressional Health Care Briefing
PICO California
PICO California participated in a briefing on Capitol Hill to update members of Congress on its campaign to provide all children in California with affordable health coverage. The briefing highlighted the Santa Clara Children's Health Initiative, an effort developed by San Jose PACT and Working Partnerships, as a national model for increasing children's access to health insurance. Participants emphasized the importance of federal Medicaid and State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) funding in enabling states and local governments to develop systems that cover all children. PICO California expects several thousand clergy and community leaders from across California to attend a large public meeting with State Legislators focused on children's health care on April 13 in Sacramento.
