Members from three congregations involved in Congregations for Civic Action - Mission San Luis Rey Parish, Shiloh Church of God in Christ, and St. Thomas More Catholic Church - celebrated the July grand opening of La Mision Village Apartments, an affordable housing project in Oceanside, CA. The opening of La Mision is a major victory for CCA leaders, who for years have been working with city officials and community agencies to develop more affordable housing options for working families in northern San Diego County.
At the celebration, Oceanside Mayor Jim Wood stated that this model housing project came about for many reasons, but a significant reason is that Congregations for Civic Action's churches have consistently advocated for affordable and accessible housing. La Mision Village is beautiful, safe and realistically affordable, with 1, 2 & 3 bedroom units, a 2,000 square-foot day care center on the property, highly-visible centralized playgrounds, and access to medical services via an onsite mini community clinic.
