Missouri Governor embraces Payday Lending legislation
Kansas City Church Community Organization

PICO leaders in Kansas City, Missouri won support from Governor Bob Holden for their legislative effort to further combat predatory payday lending practices. Governor Holden said at a press conference with PICO leaders: "The Kansas City Church Community Organization has worked long and hard to cap interest on Payday loans and to bring much needed protections for consumers. It is now time for the State Legislature to follow their lead and do the right thing for working families of Missouri." In 2002 CCO won the first state legislation specifically aimed at protecting consumers from predatory payday lending. For information on CCO's new legislation see: Article 1 and Article 2.
