Missouri Governor embraces Payday Lending legislation
Kansas City Church Community Organization
PICO leaders in Kansas City, Missouri won support from Governor Bob Holden for
their legislative effort to further combat predatory payday lending practices.
Governor Holden said at a press conference with PICO leaders: "The Kansas City
Church Community Organization has worked long and hard to cap interest on Payday
loans and to bring much needed protections for consumers. It is now time for the
State Legislature to follow their lead and do the right thing for working
families of Missouri." In 2002 CCO won the first state legislation specifically
aimed at protecting consumers from predatory payday lending. For information on
