Health reform constitutional - Faith leaders urge nation to unite to protect all families

Pledge to press all states to fully participate in Medicaid expansion

PICO National Network issued the following statement today:

Washington, D.C. – Now that the Supreme Court has issued its opinion upholding the Affordable Care Act, faith leaders from PICO National Network urge Americans to come together to assure that all families receive the many benefits and protections provided by the health care law.

“Today’s ruling is a blessing for the millions of families who worry about getting sick and not being able to afford to get the care they need,” said Rev. Heyward Wiggins, PICO National Network, “The decision lets us carry out our moral duty to protect those who are sick and vulnerable.”

PICO pledges to press all states to extend the protections and benefits of health coverage to lower-income families through fully participating in Medicaid expansion.

“As faith leaders we must assure that the most vulnerable Americans are fully included in the benefits of the new care law,” said Rev. Wiggins.

PICO urges people of faith to consult their own faith traditions about the specific provisions of the Affordable Care Act.
